Eniola Lias –Abiodun popularly known as
Ayangbajumo is unarguably one of Nigeria’s foremost female drummers. The
Graduate of Banking and Finance, Ilaro Polytechnic, Eniola is known for her
dexterity in the use of any kind of drum and acclaimed a great entertainer for any kind of occasion
that requires great fun and relaxation. Egbaborn Ayangbajumo who is also
skilled in Chanting Ewi (praise singing) which is actually her first love is
from a family that cherishes good music. Ayangbajumo’s foray into music
professionally started after her Secondary school education when she joined
Alariwo of Africa as a backup singer and she was with him when he did “Yawa go
gas”. In order to heed her daddy’s word to get educated before pursuing her
musical career Eniola later left to concentrate on her studies.
After the completion of her studies in
Ilaro Polytechnic, Eniola came back fully prepared to storm the music world and
this time with the full backing of her parents. But she was not satisfied with
the level of her knowledge in the use drums so she decided to seek proper
training from some professionals. This led her to Lagbaja’s band leader who was
introduced to her by a friend.
Mr Muri Ayangbola taught Ayanbirin the
nitty gritty of the job, she learnt Apala, Iya-Ilu, Gangan and some other
drums. She was under the tutelage of Mr Ayangbola for close to 6 years. She
left in 2005 to start her own band which is doing very well till now.
Ayangbajumo is planning to release her debut
album titled ”AROKO”. The launch of the album is billed to come up on Sunday, August
18th, 2013 DeHall event centre in Lagos.
Eniola is already getting a big support
from some of her senior colleague in the industry. The event will parade
prominent people in the societ;, King (Dr) Saheed Osupa (Oba Nla 1) is
coming to perform while Ifankaleluyah will anchore the event. Reputable
politicians like Hon. Lola Akande, Hon.
James Abiodun Faleke from House of Rep., Baba Eto Prince Cardinal Omolaja
Odunnbaku, Hon. Gbemisola Akindele, Hon. Abdullai Salaudeen, Kabiesi Alayeluwa
Oba Agbabiaka of Osolo land, Kabiesi Oba Ajuwon, Alhaji Fatai Yussuff, a.k.a
Okooloyun worldwide and so on.
